The concealed
handgun renewal
class is five hours
of classroom and
firearm proficiency.
Necessary updated
information will be
reviewed and tested.
The renewal course
can be taken six
months before your
license expires. You
will be required to
fire 50 rounds of
factory ammunition (20 rounds at 3
yards, 20 rounds at
7 yards, and 10
rounds at 15 yards).
For the renewal
process we will provide:
- Renewal packet*
- new
fingerprints
- notarization of necessary documents
- Range Fee
- Targets
* If you apply online at the
Texas Department of Public Safety website, make sure to print your receipt and bring it with you to the class. If you bring your own packet,
DO NOT fill out the fingerprint
or passport photo cards.
Remember to bring the following:
- 2 Passport Photos*
- Semi-automatic pistol (recommended)
- At least 50 rounds of ammunition
- Eye protection
- Ear Protection
If
you need to borrow a firearm, eye protection or ear protection you may
rent it. Please let us know ahead of time.
We advise that you wear a
baseball cap, collared
shirt, and closed
toe shoes to the gun range for the handgun proficiency portion of the class. Also make
sure your firearm is clean and
in good working
condition.
DO NOT bring your firearm inside the classroom.
DO NOT bring a loaded firearm to the gun range.
DO NOT have any ammunition in your magazine.
Bring ONLY the firearm you are going to use to qualify with, plus one empty magazine.
The cost of the
renewal class is
$80.00.

*Passport photos can be obtained at most Walgeen Drug Stores or FedEx Kinkos for $8.00.
